About the event

As part of its continuing programming supported by the Mellon Foundations Humanities in Place Grant, the River Pierce Foundation will host a special event in San Ygnacio on Saturday, November 8th, in partnership with The

Yes Men, the internationally acclaimed artist-activist group led by Jacques Servin and Igor Vamos.

The event will take place at the Trevino-Uribe Fort (604 Trevino St) and will feature a community action workshop hosted by Keil Troisi of The Yes Men along with a free screening and interactive presentation of films by The Yes Men. Food by Malaquite will be provided during the workshop. The screening and presentation will be followed by a panel discussion featuring Keil Troisi of The Yes Men, and Juan Mancias of the Carrizo Comecrudo Tribe of Texas.

The event is free and open to the public.

Through parody, The Yes Men aim to raise awareness about problematic social and political issues. To date, the group has produced three critically acclaimed feature films: The Yes Men (2003), The Yes Men Fix the World (2009), and The Yes Men Are Revolting (2014). These films have included collaborations with major figures including Chris Smith (Tiger King, American Movie) and Adam McKay (Anchorman, Step Brothers, Don’t Look Up). The group's actions have brought them media attention from publications including The New York Times and BBC, and they have collaborated with communities around the world to develop specific actions addressing localized social issues.

A post-screening mixer will take place following the event from 6pm-9pm at the Trevino-Uribe Fort (604 Trevino St) in San Ygnacio featuring a historical tour with food, drinks, and music by Pharr Out Records.
