Celebrate Spring with a Basket Weaving Workshop & Poetry Under the Sundial

Celebrate Spring with the River Pierce Foundation on Saturday, March 28 from 10am-5pm at the historic Treviño-Uribe Fort (604 Trevino St.) in San Ygnacio, TX for a Basket Weaving Workshop instructed by artist Sarita Westrup & Poetry Under the Sundial.

The Basket Weaving Workshop will take place from 10am-2pm and will be instructed by Sarita Westrup. This is a wonderful introductory course for anyone interested in the art of basketry. Participants will learn an open-weave pattern to create a functional bulb basket in a single session. Woven in the round "in your lap," these baskets take on a beautiful, organic shape.

Baskets made during the workshop will be exhibited to the public from 2pm-3pm. Lunch will also be served from 2pm-3pm.

Poetry Under the Sundial, will take place from 3pm-5pm, an annual poetry festival presented since 2015 that celebrates the spring equinox and features local and regional poets and musicians who present original works as well as literary classics. This year we invite readings that resonate with the theme, Restoration from Distortion: A Healing of the Mind.

The event is free and open.
