About the event

The River Pierce Foundation will host a special multidisciplinary event featuring artist Will Boone on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the Treviño–Uribe Fort (604 Treviño St) San Ygnacio. The program will include a screening of Boone’s 2019 film Sweet Perfume, followed by an artist talk and audience discussion, alongside an exhibition of his artwork and a live musical performance by Easy Sevens, Boone’s collaborative musical project which will feature visual artist and accordionist Cande Aguilar. The event will take place from 12pm-5pm with lunch provided and is free and open to the public. Please RSVP to attend at riverpierce.org.

Will Boone is a Houston-based artist whose multi-media works explore psychological and cultural landscapes through painting, sculpture, film and installation. He has presented solo exhibitions at institutions including the Contemporary Arts Museum Houston, TX (2019); and Rubell Family Collection, Miami, FL (2014). His work has also been exhibited at galleries including Karma in New York, David Kordansky Gallery in Los Angeles, and Gagosian in Rome. Boone was recently announced as a 2026 Chinati Foundation Artist-in-Residence.

The evening of film and art will conclude with a live performance by Easy Sevens, Boone’s collaborative musical project, and will feature a guest appearance by Cande Aguilar, a Brownsville-based visual artist and musician known for his barrioPOP aesthetic and deep roots in conjunto music traditions. Aguilar’s accordion performance will bring an additional layer of regional sound and cultural resonance to the program, reinforcing the River Pierce Foundation's emphasis on cross-disciplinary collaboration and borderland expression.

This event continues the River Pierce Foundation’s commitment to interdisciplinary humanities programming that foregrounds borderland voices, regional histories, and creative practices. For more information, please follow @riverpiercefoundation and visit riverpierce.org.
